The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night as it envelops; 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 and he belied the finest 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
