The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
