The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 How terrible was My punishment and warning. 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 We sent a sandstorm against them which destroyed them all, except the family of Lot, whom We saved at the break of dawn, 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Lot warned them against Our torment, but they persistently disputed it. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 So taste My punishment and warning. 39 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
