And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 If you follow a mortal like yourselves you will certainly be lost. 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
