The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
