The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
