and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 And We knowingly chose them, among all others of their time. 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 It was not in idle sport that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,- 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
