The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
