The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 arise and give warning! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 thy robes purify 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 it will be a hard day 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made things easy for them. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
