The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man, 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon are scheduled. 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
