The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
