The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
