By the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 Warn the men. 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
