Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 And the moon darkens 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
