AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 and cast lots, and he was among the losers (of the lots that were cast). 141 So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were present? 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! 159 Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]. 160 Therefore you and all what you worship. (The disbelievers and their deities.) 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 we are those who stand ranged in ranks. 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 And surely they used to say: 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones. 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles: 171 will certainly be victorious 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
Almighty God's Truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
