The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
