He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
