(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
