Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not. 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 What do you see? If We gave them enjoyment for years, 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about bewildered in every valley? 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
