The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
