Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
