The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise belongs to Allah who has sent down the Book to His worshiper (Prophet Muhammad) and has not made any crookedness in it, 1 [He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward 2 In which they will abide forever. 3 And to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son, 4 Neither they nor their fathers had any knowledge of such utterance (that God has begotten a son). Whatever they say about (this matter) is vicious blasphemy and plain lies. 5 Perhaps you will destroy yourself out of grief because they disbelieve this Book. 6 We have adorned the earth with attractive things, so that We may test mankind as to which one is best in conduct, 7 and We shall surely make all that is on it barren dust. 8 Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? 9 When the young men took refuge in the Cave – then said, “Our Lord! Give us mercy from Yourself, and arrange guidance for us in our affair.” 10 For many years We sealed up their hearing in the Cave, 11 Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. 12
