The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER this unfolding [of God's message,] as it comes down from on high! 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 two bows' length away, or nearer, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
