The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
