The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and continuous shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
