The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those of the right hand. 38
