Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In a Garden on high, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
