Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The true event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in a lofty Garden 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
