He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
