The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 for a great Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
