Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the Moon 32 by the retreating night, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 it is a warning to man, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 From the guilty. 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
