The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
