Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 arise, and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 stay away from sins 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
