The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
