The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
