The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and continuous shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
