And indeed Yunus is one of the Noble Messengers. 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 and sailed away in a laden ship, wherein people cast lots. Because he lost, he was thrown into the water. 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Has thy Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you speak truly! 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 Can tempt anyone to rebel against Him. 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 we are those who stand ranged in ranks. 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 They say, 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 And yet, [now that this divine writ has been placed before them,] they refuse to acknowledge it as true! In time, however, they will come to know [what it was that they had rejected]: 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 So are they being impatient for Our punishment? 176 When it descends upon their courtyards, evil will be the morning of those forewarned. 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 And see thou: they themselves shall presently see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 182
