The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
