The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
