Commemorate Abraham in the Book: He was upright, a prophet. 41 (And remind people) when he said to his father: "Father! Why do you worship that which neither sees nor hears, and which can be of no avail to you? 42 "O my father! Behold, there has indeed come to me [a ray] of knowledge such as has never yet come unto thee: follow me, then; I shall guide thee onto a perfect way. 43 O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient. 44 O my father! I dread lest a chastisement from the Most Gracious befall thee, and then thou wilt become [aware of having been] close unto Satan!" 45 He said: Do you dislike my gods, O Ibrahim? If you do not desist I will certainly revile you, and leave me for a time. 46 Ibrahim (Abraham) said: "Peace be on you! I will ask Forgiveness of my Lord for you. Verily! He is unto me, Ever Most Gracious. 47 I shall withdraw from you and all that you call upon beside Allah. I shall only call upon my Lord. I trust the prayer to my Lord will not go unanswered." 48 So when he turned away from them and those they worshipped, other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob. Each of them We made a Prophet, 49 And We granted to them of Our mercy, and We left (behind them) a truthful mention of eminence for them. 50
