۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 What, do we then not die 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
