The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount, 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 No one can avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
