The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
