The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
