The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
