The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
