The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 it is not a jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
