Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by this city - 1 And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city - 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He says, “I destroyed vast wealth.” 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 But he has made no effort to pass on the path that is steep. 11 And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 to an orphan near of kin; 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
