Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
