Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
